Hope in Christ 2015-2016

Our Best Year Yet!

We started in 1999 with a few kids and volunteers from one church, trying to help kids with their homework. Now, over 400 students later, we have had volunteers from over 10 churches, 12 schools, 8 counties plus college students and adults from Boiling Springs to Charlotte, Lake Wylie to Lincolnton.
2015-2016 has been our best year ever, with great students, tutors and leaders working to "Meet Real Needs for Real People!"
Thanks to the many companies, churches, groups an individuals who have helped us this year and over the years. You allow us to love students each week! Thanks to our leaders, board and students- you are the ministry! And thanks to the student and parents who chose to be part of our program, to learn and grow with us.  WOW!

Your help can change the world!

Your help can change the world!
Hope in Christ is a ministry- we don't charge students- but your giving, prayer & conversations can help!
We don't need a lot of money
- $5 pays 2 students for 1 day
- $100 can cover a student for  year!
So give at the top of our page with PayPal- quick, easy & tax-deductible!

Your time also matters:
We need prayer every day- Please pray for our partners, leaders, tutors, student and families. God has helped us do this all the way through!

We also need tutors- Look with us for Godly people who could give just 2 hours one day a week to help change a student's life...

And we need champions- people who will talk about our program in the community, and help us find partner restaurants, groups and businesses that could invest in our work.
Welcome!

About Gaston Hope in Christ

"Meeting Real Needs for Real People in Unique Ways in our Community" Gaston Hope in Christ is a ministry of local churches set up to meet the needs of communities in Gaston county and surrounding areas. We do not duplicate services being met by others, and work with other agencies to meet area needs.

Hope in Christ Tutoring

The Hope in Christ Tutoring Program serves students from area schools three days a week. Staff & volunteer tutors work with the students to provide a  fun, safe environment, nutritious snacks and one-on-one help with homework, reading and other needs.  Students do their work and reading, and also play games, use computers and other learning tools, and work on special projects.

Since 1999 we have helped over 500 students. Teachers, parents and students are happy with our work, and each year we have students waiting to be part of the program and wanting us to expand those we serve.

Students are accepted either through our partner schools or by application from community or church families.  See your school guidance counselor or contact our staff for more information.

Volunteers who can care for elementary students and help them with their homework, social skills and life are welcome to join us. Our volunteers are screened, trained and supported, and work with 2-4 students each day in a schedule of group and individual activity and support.

 Hope in Christ Partners
We need Partners as well. Hope in Christ Partners- individuals, groups and businesses- provide financial or other support to help with snacks, supplies, incentives and special trips and Wednesday dinner each week. Contact us if you would like to Partner with Hope in Christ!
